HughesMr. Samuel Ray Hughes, age 60 of Cedartown, passed away on Friday, Aug. 4, 2017.He was born on Aug. 8, 1956 in Fort Payne, Ala.Mr. Hughes was self employed as an independent contractor, where he helped many people in Polk County and made many friends.He is survived by his mother, Pecolia Ann Chadwick Hughes; daughter and son-in-law, Shea Hughes Frasier and Chad; son, Ben Hughes; brothers, Mark Hughes and David Hughes; grandchildren, McKenna, Garrison, Kendall, Chase, and Mollie. Several nieces and nephews also survive.Mr. Hughes is preceded in death by his father, Jack Lamar Hughes and brother, Taylor Lamar Hughes.In keeping with Mr. Hughes' wishes, he was cremated. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home handled the arrangements for Mr. Samuel Hughes.Mrs. PochisMrs. Janice Pochis, age 81, of Aragon, passed away Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017 at her residence.She was born in Miami, Fla., on July 16, 1936 a daughter of the late Charles Forttenberry and Katherine Kyle Fortenberry.Mrs. Pochis had been a resident of Aragon for the past 2 years, having moved to Polk County from Mississippi.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Pochis.Survivors include a son, Dean Varney, Aragon and a daughter, Kathy Toledo, Ft.
